Summary: The Units N and P of the Power Plant Boxberg were modernized in 1995 and equipped with the latest environmental technology. Boxberg III consists of 4 boilers each with 250 MW. A wet wash was selected for the flue gas desulphurization system using the limestone washing process. For the first time, in Boxberg III the scrubbers were built completely from hot-rolled sheets made of the then new material Alloy 59 from VDM Metals. More than 20 years later, this material concept has fully met the expectations and is a decisive factor for the 100% availability of the flue gas desulphurization system.
